Countries that have legalized sex work reported associated upticks in sex trafficking, the illegal practice of forcing or coercing others into providing commercial sexual services for a fee that the workers seldom see.

I’d like to see some actual data on this.

And yeah, workers are almost always coerced under capitalism. But that’s something we have to deal with until we have socialism. In the meantime, I don’t think forcing sex workers into a black market is a great idea. Even decriminalizing the act while passing punitive measures against customers constrains the ability of sex workers to support themselves.

Further, plenty of women do freely choose to prostitute themselves; at least as ‘freely’ as any labor is ‘freely’ undertaken under capitalism. That should be their right.
