Here’s a major one. Also, I’m not calling you racist. And I don’t think all Trump supporters are racist per se. What I’m saying is his campaign (and MAGA) were DEPLOYED in such a way that they played off of these racial anxieties. There was obviously a huge appetite for this among his base because it worked. Straight from the outset of his campaign this was clear; blaming immigrants (I wonder which ones) for drugs, crime, rape, etc.
You can personally interpret MAGA at face value and that’s fine. But to ignore the subtext that appeals to large swaths of his base would be missing important parts of what MAGA means to many of his voters.
